ABOUTI am currently a MSc Candidate in the Earth to Oceans Research Group at Simon Fraser University, supervised by Dr. Isabelle Côté in The Marine Ecology Lab. I am fascinated by the role that invertebrates play in nutrient cycling, and am researching the overlooked functional roles of Bahamian sea cucumbers. I am excited to determine their ecological roles as nutrient cycling mediators in seagrass and patch reef ecosystems. My work is conducted out of the Cape Eleuthera Institute.
Formerly, I worked for The Marine Ecology Lab as a Dive Supervisor on a 4-month expedition to Curaçao to conduct in situ experiments on damselfish behaviour in response to native and invasive fish predators. I also worked for three years as a Marine Science Educator, Scientific Diver, and Research Assistant at the Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre. I assisted visiting research groups from across Canada and the United States with observational and experimental studies, both intertidal and subtidal. I also developed marine science related educational content for K-12 and university students, where I taught in classroom, laboratory, and field settings. I obtained a BSc in Biology with a concentration in Marine Biology from the University of Victoria, and completed my undergraduate thesis at the Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre. |
